Anointed to Heal book review

Anointed to Heal: True Stories and Practical Insight for Praying for the SickAnointed to Heal: True Stories and Practical Insight for Praying for the Sick by Bill Johnson

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I wanted to like this book. I really am inspired by Bill Johnson’s and Randy Clark’s ministry. These two men have been obedient to bringing the Gospel and the name of Jesus to thousands (millions?) throughout the world through the power of the Holy Spirit using healings and wonders. However, this book focuses so singularly on healings, that the Gospel is all but forgotten. That is not how these two men operate, but it is how this book is presented. Healings happen so that folks can have their lives transformed by the Gospel. Central to all of that is Jesus – the foundation to our faith. In this book, Jesus is hardly mentioned. Holy Spirit – all over the place. God the Father – time and again. Jesus barely shows. This book lacks the balance that I know is a part of these men’s ministries, and that is a shame. Experiences of healing for the sake of experiences of healing is nothing short of idolatry without the message of the Gospel.
